Dangote Group is a Nigerian conglomerate founded in 1981 by Aliko Dangote, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.
Originally, the group started as a trading company for consumer goods such as cement, rice, sugar, and other commodities.
Gradually, Dangote evolved into an integrated industrial model: producing cement, sugar, salt, flour, pasta, packaging, refining petroleum products, and fertilizers, among other things.
Today, the group includes numerous subsidiaries — including Dangote Cement Plc, petroleum refining, agro-industry, etc.
Dangote Cement is the largest cement producer in sub-Saharan Africa, with capacity in several countries.
The group has also ventured into petroleum refining: the group's refinery — Dangote Refinery —, inaugurated in 2023, is designed as the largest "single-train" refinery in the world.
Dangote Group's objective is to ensure self-sufficiency for a range of essential goods, reduce imports, add value locally, and participate in the industrial development of the African continent.
Beyond heavy industry and consumer goods, Dangote also operates in the infrastructure, energy, agricultural and agri-food products, real estate, and logistics sectors.
