FrontEdge is a Nigerian fintech company specializing in cross-border trade finance and payment solutions for exporting and importing SMEs in Africa. Founded in 2021 and based in Lagos, the company aims to bridge the funding and tools gap for African businesses engaged in international trade by providing working capital, payment technologies, and software tools to efficiently manage trade transactions.
Unlike traditional lenders, FrontEdge offers transaction-based financing without requiring collateral, allowing SMEs to access the necessary capital while goods are in transit or in storage. The company acts as a kind of “vertical bank” for trade activities, facilitating cross-border payments, offshore account setup, and cash flow optimization for its clients.
In November 2023, FrontEdge raised $10 million in funding (equity and debt) in a seed round led by TLG Capital, strengthening its ability to expand its products to several African countries and offer new features to support exporters of all sizes.
